Where we come from,
where we belong

While the Bishnupriya Manipuri community is rooted in the Northeast Indian states of Assam, Tripura, and Manipur, as well as neighboring Bangladesh, our presence extends far beyond these borders. Today, we are proud to have a thriving and vibrant diaspora right here in Bangalore, where our community continues to grow, connect, and keep our rich cultural traditions alive in the heart of the city.

Our Story

Founded in 2012,
built for community

BMWCA was established with a clear purpose — to ensure that every member of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community has a place to belong, a network to rely on, and a connection to their culture. What began as informal gatherings has grown into a formally registered, government-recognised association serving hundreds of members with welfare support, cultural programs, career guidance, and a strong sense of shared identity.

2012

BMWCA Founded

Community members establish BMWCA on the pillars of culture, welfare, and togetherness.

2013–2015

First Cultural Programs

First Bishu (New Year) and Durga Puja celebrations unite members from across the city.

2016–2018

Welfare Programs Launch

Formal welfare services begin — education counseling, career assistance, and matrimony support.

2020

COVID-19 Response

BMWCA mobilises rapidly to support members with resources and community connection.

2022

A Decade of Service

Ten-year anniversary brings together hundreds of members in a landmark celebration.

2024–2025

Re-registration & Yari Pori

Re-registered with Karnataka Govt. and launched Yari Pori 2025 — our community magazine.
